The BFGF DESIGN LAB deals in research and development. It’s about economically, socially and environmentally sustainable design.

Using strategies of circular economics we aim at a production of goods that is beneficial. Beneficial for all stake-holders of a modern and growing world.

The LAB is invested in research, consultations, teaching and networking – it takes a shared effort to make this place a better world.

  • Housing First Bachelor by Daniela Wömmel at BFGF

    In our work on furniture for Hamburg’s ‘Hinz & Kunzt’ housing first innitiative we were supportet by Daniela Wömmel. She joined our team to work on her industrial design bachelor thesis for Fontys University of Applied Sciences. Her research and professional input greatly improved the project.   • Christian Schüten sits in jury of ‘Silberstreifen”–award

    The Hamburg Cross Innovation Hub, designxport and page magazine have organized a competition of Hamburg designers to work on concepts, methods and products to offer solutions to pandemics, climate crisis or social issues. ‘Silberstreifen” translates as “silver lining”. Christan Schüten had the honor to be part of the jury that evaluated the entries.

  • Prof. Pfromm

    On January 17 2020 Professor Eric Pfromm gave his inaugural lecture at AMD Academy for fashion and design in Hamburg. He is now Professor for product design. The topic of his lecture was “Sustainability in product design and in teaching”. Please note “the Speaker”, an oratory instrument he inherited from his father.

  • Eric Pfromm heads Product Design at AMD

    In February 2018 Eric Pfromm started the degree program “Produktdesign (B.A.)” at the Academy for Fashion and Design (AMD Akademie Mode & Design) in Hamburg. He is acting head of this department until a permanent position is appointed. He also teaches “Gestaltung + Modell” (Design and Modeling), “Digitale Medien” (Digital Media), “Technisches Zeichnen” (Technical Drawing) and “Material”.

  • Christian Schüten teaches at AMD

    Since Winter Semester 2017/2018 Christian Schüten teaches Product Design at Hamburgs AMD Akademie für Mode & Design. He does so different functions in the program “Raumkonzept und Design”.   • Workshop at NID Bengaluru

    For the last of the three workshops Schüten and Pfromm travelled to Bengaluru (Bangalore). At the NID campus there the first years of post graduate students Universal Design and Retail Experience participated. The campus in Bengaluru is very nice with a rooftop cafeteria where students meet for meals and tea every day.
